A look at which American presidents have the most loyal, according to Gallup.
The first-ever Gallup poll asked the question in the presidential election of 2018 and found that President Donald Trump has the most supporters with a whopping 81% of all voters.
But Trump’s support has fallen over the years, from 82% in 2020 to 74% in 2016.
This fall, his support fell to 75% among voters in the first-in-the-nation swing state of Virginia.
The poll also found that more than two-thirds of voters approve of Trump’s job performance, while just 34% approve of his handling of Russia.
Former president Barack Obama had the lowest approval rating at 35%, followed by George W. Bush, who had an approval rating of just 14%.
Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Chelsea, had the highest approval ratings with 72% each.
Trump, who has had his share of controversies, had an even worse month than his predecessors with 71%.
Trump is expected to receive a second term, but polls show him with a strong advantage in 2018.
In a CNN/ORC poll conducted last month, 51% of voters said they’d vote for Trump if the election were held today, compared to 45% for Clinton and 40% for Democratic rival Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
As the 2018 midterm elections draw closer, Gallup also asked voters what their biggest fears were about the future of the country.
With the 2018 elections about to begin, the pollsters asked: How worried are you that your country will be in trouble?
As of March, only 26% of Americans had a “very” or “somewhat” worry, compared with 35% for the rest of the public.
This percentage is much higher than the 17% who had a moderate or “strong” worry about the nation’s future.
“Trump has a lot of supporters,” Gallup president Sam Wang said in a statement.
“But his support is at an all-time low and is dropping as his approval ratings continue to plummet.”
As a presidential candidate, Trump pledged to fix the country’s problems.
He also promised to make America great again, a sentiment that many of his supporters do hold.
“He has been a consistent champion of American workers, and his support has been an important pillar of his presidency,” Wang said.
“The fact that so many of those who voted for him for president hold so little faith in him and want him to get the job done will only further undermine his credibility.”
